Devlog 8 - Production week 6


Production week 6.

This was our last week of production! We have now reached a feature freeze, and in the next two weeks we'll only be working on polishing the game so we have a nice finished result in the end. This week, a lot of new features got added and our level got a lot more detailed. Please have a look.

A lot of new stuff!

We have new items/objects that can be found in the level, or crafted from materials.
- A key: you'll need it to open the door to finish the level. Keys can be found in chests.
- Bandages: use it to heal some of your damage.
- A twohander (see screenshot below): an even greater sword than the greatsword already in the game.
- A torch: light up dark areas, and use it to light up braziers as well.


We also added a hatchet, which gives the possibility to the warrior to chop wood. We also have a pickaxe for mining stone.


New dangers await our characters now. They can fall into pits and water, and spikes try to block passages.


An integral part of the level is the chest room. Here the characters get locked together with some enemies. Once those are taken care of, you'll be able to take a key from the chest and make your way back to the main room. But beware! While you were slaying enemies, the bridge you crossed earlier has started to collapse, and it won't be easy to cross it again! Turrets on both sides make the journey even more challenging.


When the players have found the key, they can use it to unlock a big door and push it open. This triggers the end of the level.


When a player dies, it's game over. This is the graveyard scene where you'll have to resurrect the characters in order to play again.


A lot of decoration assets got added, like a tombstone, candelabra, rocks, iron gate, floor tiles, bushes, crates and also the big door for the end of the level. All of these made it possible to start designing the level and add lots of detail everywhere.

We also started experimenting with particles, and it's looking quite nice already.
